New Orleans Saints RB Pierre Thomas said he still has room to improve and has been preparing himself to improve his pass protection, reports Alan Macey, of The SouthtownStar. He said watching how QB Drew Brees approaches the game has been beneficial to his growth as a student of the game. "My mental approach is that of patience, which is similar to how I run. I let the play unfold, see the hole and blast through it," Thomas said. He signed a one-year, $1.684 million tender earlier this year, and reports claim he and the Saints are still working on a long-term deal.

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees fully expects Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre to be on the field for Week 1 of the 2010 season, playing as well as ever at age 40, according to Nancy Gay, of Fanhouse.com. The Saints will host the Vikings in the season opener. "I don't think there's any doubt that Brett Favre is coming back, and he's going to be as good as he's ever been," Brees said. "We're going to need our best game to beat him, I know that. They're a good team. A very good team."

Mike Triplett, of The New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports in the next year or two, New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees will become one of the richest players in NFL history, with a contract in the neighborhood of $20 million per year. There is no immediate need to get a deal done, because Brees has two years remaining on his six-year, $60 million contract. However, the two sides will at least begin some discussions this summer to see how far apart they are. One way or another, it would be an absolute shock if Brees went into the 2011 season without a new deal.

Owens said, “I know hands-down I'd be close to Jerry Rice's records if I had been with quality quarterbacks like he had. He had (former NFL QB) Joe Montana and he finished with (former NFL QB) Steve Young. That wasn't a dropoff. Say I had been with a guy like (New England Patriots QB) Tom Brady, (Indianapolis Colts QB) Peyton Manning or (New Orleans Saints QB) Drew Brees all of my career. Are you kidding me?”

The Philadelphia Daily News reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb will likely be invited to his sixth Pro Bowl and first since 2004. Players whose teams are in the Super Bowl are unable to play in the Pro Bowl, and either New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees or Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre will be forced to withdraw from the game. McNabb was chosen as the first alternate for the team.
