The winner of the Vikings' starting QB race won't be clear for another 5 1/2 months, but by opening Wednesday's player workout at Winter Park to the media, the Vikings opened the dialogue. Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger are set to battle for the job -- for now. The Vikings could bring in a free agent or draft a passer to add to the battle. "I'm excited as heck about it," Bollinger said, "and I'm going to keep working hard to put myself in the best position possible and help this team have a successful offense and win football games." Meanwhile, Jackson was also commenting on it. "Everybody says we need a quarterback," Jackson said, "but it really don't matter. They don't see what our coaches see. They don't see us practice day after day, so they're going to say a lot of stuff."
