Titans | Discuss contract compromise with Chris Johnson :: Wed Jul 07, 2010 8:52 pm
The Tennessee Titans and the agent for RB Chris Johnson are discussing a compromise that could get Johnson in training camp sooner than most expect, according to Jim Wyatt, of The Tennessean. Johnson, unhappy with his current contract, didn’t take part in the offseason program and missed all 14 days of organized workouts. He wants a long-term deal that would pay him at least $30 million in guarantees. Although the Titans still aren’t willing to do that, a short-term solution could give Johnson a smaller bump in pay. Under the terms of the five-year, $12 million contract he signed prior to his rookie season, Johnson has reached escalators in the deal that could pay him up to an additional $2.5 million in salary in 2012. The Titans could turn that money into a signing bonus in 2010, and combine it with his scheduled base salary of $550,000 for this season.

Titans | Could look at adding another running back :: Wed Jun 23, 2010 10:24 pm
If Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson holds out at the start of training camp, the team could seek an extra body to help spread out reps and allow for rest when someone is injured, reports Paul Kuharsky, of ESPN.com. If the contract dispute appears as if it could encroach on the season, the Titans would likely look closely at running backs who hit the market as teams trim rosters.
