Dallas Cowboys WR Patrick Crayton’s agent will ask the team to release his client prior to the deadline Saturday, Sept. 4, according to Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News. "It seems he doesn't figure in their plans so it's not logical to be on the roster until Saturday," agent Fred Lyles said. "We don't see the use in prolonging it."

Dallas Cowboys WR Patrick Crayton wants to be released by the team, reports Calvin Watkins, of ESPNDallas.com. Crayton's agent, Fred Lyles, said it is clear Crayton is not part of the team's future plans, so they should not wait to release him. The Cowboys are worried if they release him, he might sign with another NFC East team. The Cowboys have previously shopped him.

The status of Dallas Cowboys WRs Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd is up in the air as the cut date looms Saturday, Sept. 4, reports David Moore, of The Dallas Morning News. Crayton is slated to make $2 million this year, while Hurd is due $1.759 million. The Cowboys are likely to keep one of those salaries, but not both. Crayton didn't play in the team's preseason finale, and caught just one pass during the preseason. He does, however, have more value around the league than Hurd does. If the team picks Hurd over Crayton, it could come down to his role on special teams, as Hurd is considered one of the team's best special teams players.

Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he is considering where WR Terry Glenn fits with the team before deciding if he will get back on the field. The team asked Glenn to sign a $500,000 injury settlement, but Glenn refused. Jones said Glenn's return isn't necessarily over the injury settlement anymore and about what's best for the team. Jones said, "What I should be looking at is how he fits as a player this year. That is what this is about. It’s not about my will against Terry’s will." The team is encouraged by Glenn's progress but are concerned about his durability and possibly his effect on the team. There are those in the organization who believe Glenn's return for the playoffs last season might have had a negative impact on WR Patrick Crayton, according to a source.
