An MRI confirmed Pittsburgh Steelers QB Byron Leftwich (knee) suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee during the team’s preseason game, and he is out indefinitely, according to Scott Brown, of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. QB Dennis Dixon is now the frontrunner to fill in as the starting quarterback while QB Ben Roethlisberger is serving his suspension.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Pittsburgh Steelers signed QB Dennis Dixon (knee) to a three-year contract Monday, July 7. The deal includes a $130,000 signing bonus. Other financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Gary Horowitz, of the Statesman Journal, reports University of Oregon QB Dennis Dixon (knee) worked out for NFL scouts Thursday, April 3. It was Dixon's first workout since undergoing knee surgery. He said he felt great and pushed his knee to the limit.

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports University of Oregon QB Dennis Dixon (knee) did not work out at his school's Pro Day Thursday, March 13. Dixon is still recovering from knee surgery. He plans to work out Thursday, April 3. Dixon measured in at 6-foot-3 1/4 and 195 pounds.
