Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (back) suffered a back strain Saturday, July 31, and was not at practice Sunday, Aug. 1, reports Jeff McLane, of The Philadelphia Inquirer. He is listed as day-to-day. The team is being cautious with him, and the injury is believed to be concentrated at his lower back. He suffered the injury while twisting to make a catch, and it was not the result of contact.

FOX 29 Philadelphia reports Philadelphia Eagles general manager Tom Heckert said the team likely won't be adding a free agent wide receiver to QB Donovan McNabb's arsenal. "It's an easy out for everyone to say we need a wide receiver but we did get one - DeSean Jackson," Heckert said. Heckert believes Jackson is a prime threat at wide receiver and receivers won't be an issue for the team during the free agent season.

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson discussed his mistake from Week 2 that nearly cost the team a touchdown. Jackson casually flicked the ball backward before crossing the goal line, overturning the touchdown but giving the Eagles the ball at the one-yard line. RB Brian Westbrook made the mistake forgivable by scoring. Jackson said, "I had a lot of people messing around with me about it, but I'm just going to move on with it. I've got a lot more football to play. I'm just not even worried about it."

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson caught six passes for 106 yards, WR Greg Lewis caught five passes for 105 yards and WR Hank Baskett caught two passes for 102 yards in the team's Week 1 game. It is the first time since 1960 that the Eagles had three 100-yard receivers.

Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid indicated rookie WR DeSean Jackson will stick at flanker, where he only needs to know one set of patterns and play responsibilities. WRs Hank Baskett, Greg Lewis and Jason Avant will rotate at the other receiver positions in Week 1. RBs Brian Westbrook and Lorenzo Booker are also expected to split wide a lot, with the team using the tight ends to also make some plays.
