Paul Schwartz, of the New York Post, reports New York Giants TE Kevin Boss has great size at 6-foot-6 but is a step back in blocking at the tight end position in comparison to former Giants TE Jeremy Shockey. Boss, who has soft hands and runs precise routes, probably will not add the same explosive nature to the Giants' offense that Shockey possessed.

Boss filled in for TE Jeremy Shockey, who was traded to the New Orleans Saints, last year. He started the final six games of 2007, including all of the team's playoff games.

"We have five young kids who are all vying for the position," head coach Tom Coughlin said. "The tight end position will be a very competitive position in training camp." TEs Kevin Boss, Michael Matthews, Darcy Johnson, Jerome Collins and Eric Butler are all going to vie for the job.
