Mike Spofford, of Packers.com, reports if the Green Bay Packers defense started practicing now, then DE Cullen Jenkins and Johnny Jolly would be the defensive ends, DT Ryan Pickett would be the nose tackle, LB A.J. Hawk and LB Nick Barnett would be the inside linebackers and DE Aaron Kampman would be one of the outside linebackers, based on interviews by general manager Ted Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthy. LB Brady Poppinga could be the other outside linebacker but LB Brandon Chillar, LB Desmond Bishop, DE Jeremy Thompson and DE Jason Hunter could also be in the mix.

Rob Demovsky, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers linebackers coach Winston Moss said LB A.J. Hawk played very well in his first start at middle linebacker in Week 11, and they could keep him in the middle for a while. "Its only one game. I hate to speculate. Well take it a game at a time, but he looked awfully good in there. He looked extremely comfortable. He did play to some of his strengths that we liked with him when we evaluated him coming out of college, so if he continues to improve on that, well revisit that question maybe at the end of the year," Moss said. Hawk led the team with seven tackles in the game.

Pete Dougherty, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers LB A.J. Hawk (groin) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 3. He is listed as questionable for the team's Week 5 game. He will be a game-time decision but is expected to play.

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers LB A.J. Hawk (chest) went through a full practice Saturday, Sept. 6. He hopes to play during Week 1, but he has not been cleared for the game by the team's medical staff. If he does play, Hawk would wear a harness to protect him from suffering further injury to his chest.
