Minnesota Vikings special teams coordinator Brian Murphy said PK Ryan Longwell and PK Rhys Lloyd will each work a half during preseason games, reports 1500ESPN.com's Tom Pelissero. Murphy said the team's kicking decision could be a week-to-week decision during the season if both make the final roster.

Ryan Kibbe, of KSTP-TV, reports Minnesota Vikings PK Ryan Longwell changed several things during the offseason to help him add more leg strength and more endurance during games. "I talked with [special teams coach] Paul Ferraro after the season, and we aired it out. What I thought my shortcomings were after last year. He expressed some things that we wanted to tweak. After 10 years you get stuck in a rut and you might as well change it up. So, I changed my off-season workout. He cut back my kicking in training camp a lot. We saw some positive signs in the off-season program. I feel pretty good going into the season," Longwell said.

Vikings PK Ryan Longwell did well enough in his first season in Minnesota, making 21-of-25 field goals and 27-of-28 extra points in 2006. He did not make any field goals from beyond 50 yards.
