Lee Rasizer, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports Denver Broncos QB Jay Cutler is planning to wear an insulin pump during practices and pregame warm-ups to regulate his blood-sugar level. He will take the device off for the three hours he plays in game and drink Gatorade to give his body a boost instead of letting the machine do it. He will keep a close eye on his glucose levels either between quarters or at halftime.

The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos QB Jay Cutler said Friday, May 2, he realized there was something wrong with him dating back to last season, when he lost 35 pounds and some velocity on his throws. Doctors told Cutler last month that he is an insulin-dependant diabetic. Cutler never worried his career was in jeopardy, however. "No. That's the first thing they said to me: 'It's going to affect your lifestyle a little bit, but you'll be able to continue to play football,' " Cutler said. "I'm not the first athlete to get diabetes and I won't be the last…I've got a lot of people watching me. It's not going to affect me on the field. I'm going to make changes off the field, eating and stuff like that."
