Matthew Barrows, of the Sacramento Bee, reports San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis said he credits 49ers tight ends coach Pete Hoener for his improvement as a pass catcher as well as run blocker. "He pushes me, always has. I like it. I like it when people test me. Because I'm a competitor. I like when people push me because I respond," Davis said. Hoener said that Davis is just starting to become a great player and can improve even more.

"I don't know if anyone in the league can run like he can at that position," Martz said. "He gets down the field so fast. I don't know who beats him in a footrace." Martz also said Davis worked harder than any other offensive player on the team during the offseason.
