With the top pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Raiders took LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Russell is expected to compete for the starting job with Andrew Walter (quit laughing).

With the top pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Raiders took LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Russell is expected to compete for the starting job with Josh McCown, whom the Raiders acquired with WR Mike Williams for a fourth-round pick. This relegates Andrew Walter to no better than third string on the Raiders' depth chart. Walter threw three touchdowns and 13 interceptions last season for Oakland.
