New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said RB LaDainian Tomlinson is the "best third down back in the league," reports Manish Mehta, of The New York Daily News. Tomlinson caught two passes for 85 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown reception, during the team's scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 7. Tomlinson split out wide and beat a corner on a go route on the touchdown reception. "I still got a lot left in the tank. People are starting to see that I still got a lot left in the tank," Tomlinson said.

The New York Jets reports New York Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson met with unrestricted free-agent DE Jason Taylor (Dolphins) during his visit and is optimistic about the possibility of Taylor signing with the Jets. "I think this is the perfect fit for him," Tomlinson said. "When you think about it, and Jason’s obviously thinking about it, he probably can see himself being here. I think we’ve got a great shot of getting him."

Manish Mehta, of The Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said there will be games next season where RB LaDainian Tomlinson will have more carries than RB Shonn Greene and games when Greene has more than Tomlinson. "Hypothetically, we'd see (Tomlinson) carry the ball 15 times a game," Ryan told reporters. "We're just going to ground and pound away. I'm sure some games he'll have more rushing attempts than Shonn Greene. I think Shonn will have more than L.T. in other games," Ryan said.
