The Detroit Lions will host the 2008 Draft Party at Lucky Strike Lanes Saturday, April 26, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The party will feature games, prizes and appearances by Lions alumni and current players. TE John Owens, DL Cory Redding, SS Ron Rice, FB Cory Schlesinger, OL Jonathan Scott, CB Keith Smith and DL Dewayne White are scheduled to appear.

The Dolphins signed veteran fullback Cory Schlesinger to a two-year contract Sunday, agent Joe Linta told The Palm Beach Post. Schlesinger played 12 seasons with the Lions, but saw less playing time last season and became a free agent two weeks ago. In Detroit, Schlesinger was used mostly as a lead blocker. In 2001, he rushed for a career-high 154 yards on 47 carries and caught 60 passes that season. He also played special teams for the Lions, and his 118 tackles from 1985-2001 were more than any Detroit player in that span.

The Detroit News reports that Lions FB Cory Schlesinger, who is a free agent this offseason, will not be re-signed unless the team cannot find a suitable replacement in free agency. Schlesinger has been a career blocker for the Lions, spending 12 years in the Motor City. "You hate to say no. You want to leave a little window open," coach Rod Marinelli said of re-signing Schlesinger. "We're going to let the thing play out with Cory. He's been a war-daddy here."

Lions FB Cory Schlesinger made eight receptions for 36 yards in 2006, proving that he's not just a big blocking fullback. He'll be a free agent this offseason.

RB Arlen Harris, who was in training camp with the Lions and at one time was listed as their No. 2 RB before he was released at the end of the pre-season, was re-signed to pick up the slack in the injury-depleted offensive backfield. RB Kevin Jones has a hip pointer, FB Cory Schlesinger has a hamstring and RB/FB Shawn Bryson was put on injured reserve with a knee injury.
