Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans QB Sage Rosenfels would like an opportunity to start for a team in the NFL. Rosenfels has openly expressed some frustration over his role as a backup quarterback. "It's been an interesting offseason. As a quarterback, you'd like to have a chance to make a team your own. And this is Matt's team. And I understand that. There's obviously some frustration there," Rosenfels said. "But I'm excited for next year. I'm excited to get back to work, and I'm excited to have Kyle Shanahan as a coordinator, because I think he's going to do a great job this year."

Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said Thursday, April 3, he does not expect any more trade talk regarding QB Sage Rosenfels. Rosenfels was pursued by the Minnesota Vikings earlier this offseason, although the Texans wanted as much as a second-round draft pick in return. "You guys know I think the world of him," Kubiak said. "He means a lot to this team. We've got a starting quarterback who has been hurt. We've said all along, the only way we would have entertained (a trade for Rosenfels) is if our football team was getting better. And that never took place. So I'm glad to see him back to work. He's a big part of this team." Although QB Matt Schaub (shoulder) is healing well from his offseason shoulder surgery, the Texans are concerned about keeping him on the field for 16 games this season.

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak insists the signing of free-agent QB Quinn Gray (Jaguars) does not increase the likelihood of QB Sage Rosenfels being traded. "I know what people are saying, but signing Quinn has absolutely nothing to do with it," Kubiak said. "I've been a two-quarterback type of guy, but what happened to us last season scared the heck out of me, and I don't want to go through that again."

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Sage Rosenfels replaced injured QB Matt Schaub (ankle, hip) during the teams Week 7 game. Rosenfels accounted for four of the teams six turnovers in the game, throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble. Rosenfels was 22-for-35 for 290 yards with four touchdown passes.

The Associated Press reports Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub was 19-for-21 for 259 yards with one interception during the team's Week 6 game. QB Sage Rosenfels replaced Schaub and was 11-for-12 for 82 yards with one touchdown pass.

The Texans re-signed running back Chris Taylor and quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt. Taylor, an undrafted free agent, spent much of last season on the practice squad before being activated in December. He played in the final four games, rushing for 123 yards on 28 carries. Van Pelt was originally signed in November when backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels was placed on injured reserve. Van Pelt, who was a rookie with the Denver Broncos in 2005, did not play last season.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Texans backup QB Sage Rosenfels broke his thumb at the N.Y. Jets in Week 12 and has been placed on Injured Reserve. Bradlee Van Pelt has been signed to the roster to replace Rosenfels.
