Correcting a previous report, Charlie Campbell, of PewterReport.com, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers grievance against free-agent QB Jake Plummer (Buccaneers) has not been settled or finalized. It is uncertain if the Buccaneers would be credited towards their salary cap number once the grievance is settled.

Stephen F. Holder, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and QB Jake Plummer (Buccaneers) will meet for an arbitration hearing Wednesday, June 11. The team is seeking to recover the prorated portion of a signing bonus paid to him when he renegotiated his contract in 2005. The up-front money was paid with the understanding Plummer would fulfill a contract that binds him through 2009. However, Plummer decided to retire after getting traded in March 2007. The team could gain salary cap space if they are successful.

Scott Reynolds and Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, report the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos have jointly filed a third grievance against QB Jake Plummer for his failure to report to the Buccaneers' training camp July 26. The Buccaneers are attempting to receive as much as $7 million in bonus money Plummer received while playing in Denver due to the fact that he has retired unilaterally. In addition to the three grievances filed against him, Plummer has accumulated over $500,000 in fines for missing several team-related activities, according to a team source.

The St. Petersburg Times reports that the Buccaneers are still trying to contact QB Jake Plummer, whom they own the rights to, in hopes of him coming back to play. "We're trying to hook up with him to see if we'll have some opportunities to sit down with him face-to-face,'" Gruden said. "Jake Plummer is hanging in the balance right now."

Jake Plummer poured a glass of water, took a giant gulp and then talked for almost five minutes about how he was officially retiring from the NFL before stepping away from the podium without answering any questions. The Denver Broncos quarterback was in a hurry Friday. He had a handball tournament he needed to attend. "I wanted to come in and tell you guys on camera and face-to-face that the speculation can stop tonight," Plummer said from the Denver Athletic Club. "You can know by the looking in my face and hearing my words that I am retiring from the NFL. At 32 years old, I'm running away from the game. Not in fear or fright, but health-wise. I'm healthy. I'm happy. I have a lot to look forward to in my life."
