Charlie Campbell, of PewterReport.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Luke McCown has his sights set on more than being a backup quarterback, even though QB Jeff Garcia is entrenched as the team's starting quarterback. The team also added QB Brian Griese via trade in the offseason. "Well you know it's always a competition. Jeff is our starter, but that doesn't keep me from competing to be the starter," McCown said. "I want to be the starter. Right now I'm the number two and competing. That's what we are doing right now. We're competing through OTA's. It doesn't matter what you are on the depth chart it's about competing when you get on the field, being prepared, doing what you can to help the team win. And that's the whole point of a team."

Roy Cummings, of The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Brian Griese was absent for the team's first offseason workout. Griese was reportedly at a charity event and could not leave for this week's workouts.

The NFL Network reports Chicago Bears QB Rex Grossman (knee) suffered an apparent knee injury during the teams Week 14 game. He was able to walk, but he has left the field and will not return. QB Brian Griese replaced Grossman in the game.
