Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson announced Friday, April 25, the Packers placed QB Brett Favre on the reserved/retired list to reduce the number of players counting against the team's active roster to 68 players with active status.

Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy announced Thursday, April 17, the team will retire former QB Brett Favre's number at the team's season opener Monday, Sept. 8, against the Minnesota Vikings. It will be the sixth number retired by the Packers. All the previous players who had their numbers retired are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Chris Jenkins, of The Associated Press, reports Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy does not think retired QB Brett Favre is having second thoughts about coming back to play in the NFL. Murphy also thinks it is unlikely Favre would want to play for another team other than the Packers. If Favre did want to play for another team, Murphy said the decision to trade Favre's rights would be up to general manager Ted Thompson.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports Green Bay, Wis., mayor Jim Schmitt said he is working with communities and state officials to name a major thoroughfare after former Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre. Five possibilities mentioned were the Walnut Street Bridge, Mason Street, Velp Avenue, Ashland Avenue and Military Avenue.

The Sun Herald reports during an interview with Sun Herald sports writer Al Jones, who is working with retired QB Brett Favre (Packers) on a book honoring Favre, Favre said he could see himself returning to the Green Bay Packers if the team was injured and needed him. "Yeah, I can probably be up there doing that and playing, but again, I don't know. It's only speculating. I think the world of that team. I had a lot of fun, not only this year, but over my career. Those guys I played with this past year, a lot of young guys, a lot of fun." Favre also said that he would only do it if he was in shape and could help the team.

Peter King, of SportsIllustrated.com, reports retired NFL QB Brett Favre (Packers) said he is not considering coming out of retirement. "That's the last thing I'm thinking about," Favre told SI.com. "I have no idea where that came from, but it certainly didn't come from me. I'm happy about my decision and I haven't once said, 'I wonder if I made the wrong decision.' I know it's the right one."
