The Emperor's New Clothes

Fri Aug 10, 2007 10:24 am

The NHL loves drama. Almost as much as TNT loves cheesy commercials saying they know drama.

Now the NHL wants to slowly release its new jerseys to try and keep some people interested in the league. It's like Pokemon cards used to be. You get one and as soon as everyone starts to get it, they release the new one. That reminds me, it's about time to update my Commodore 64.

Also, if you haven't heard, the NHL is slowly slowly grovelling their way back to ESPN.
So Bettman decides that the future of the NHL is found in a television station that is only found in 71 million homes? No Gary, we're sorry, that just doesn't cut it. It's time to go back to the Worldwide Leader. In what though, we're still wondering. The only positive I see from the move back to ESPN is more highlights on SportsCenter and more Scott van Pelt "Bartender, Something on ice" quotes. Like all their other sports, I expect subpar commentating, useless facts and graphics and some new camera angle or other item. Like the glowing puck. Remember how much better the game was with that?

That's about all for now. Stop in again. I plan on venting a little more often.

If you play it, I will come

I'm heading on a road trip that will take me to Chicago and Detroit this week. Also, I'll be stopping at Toledo to see some Mud Hens baseball. If I'm really moving and going well, I'll be watching the Buffalo Bisons one night as well. May the baseball gods be smiling on me.
