I think Yahoo really screwed this up. So if you get the SP version of Ohtani but he hits 2 HR for your opponent that game, you could lose to your own player? I think the team that drafts him gets both sides of his game but also has to deal with really only having 24 players.

His offensive stats shouldn't count if he is also the SP for that day. To me, that seems like the most logical way to avoid the conundrum.

If heís on one team that makes sense, but if heís on two different teams as a P or DH, how do you enforce? Iím for one team gets the P and DH players.

I would favor drafting him once and getting the whole package. However, if you call up Ohtani the pitcher would you also be forced to call him up as a hitter as well?

I think you draft him once and get both and treat him as one player except for the roster spot. So call him up as a pitcher and you call him up as a hitter.

Its pretty dumb though how Yahoo handles this. A SP hitting a HR for your team gets credit for the HR. There's none of this 2 roster spot thing. They should just have had him as a pitcher and count his offensive stats towards your team, and see if he even sticks around as a hitter next season.

There are some other damn good hitting pitchers out there that could pile up hitting stats too. Is ohtani getting added as another player because we assume he's going to be an every day player? If Madison Bumgarner takes right field for the Giants enough times, at what point would he generate a player as a hitter. And would we be forced to roster that spot?

I agree with most of what's been said, but I don't necessarily think both hitter and pitcher must be rostered at the same time. Could actually turn into an unfair negative where Jake is forced to waste one of his 25 spots on a part-time DH who barely gets to hit.

Also, I'd be interesting in acquiring an upcoming contraction pick (I have two, maybe three specific targets) if anyone is shopping it.

Iím going to let you guys debate it out here and try to stay impartial. Itís a new situation but with some of the young prospects that play both sides we may be seeing more attempts at this down the line.

It seems to me pretty much everyone agrees on how to handle it.

I agree with this. What if he blows his elbow out in a month or so but can still DH. Do you have to carry both even though one isnít playing. Or if he goes on the DL do you need two DL spots?

Should we pick for D-Store? I think he said he's going to be busy or something like that.

I (perhaps stupidly) took three more hitters even though I already have a bunch, so I'm looking to move some for a 2B upgrade and/or SP/RP.

Semien, Fisher, Joc Pederson, Soler, Duda and Walker/Panik (if I find a 2B upgrade) are on the block. Judge, Goldschmidt and Acuna are the only hitters I'd classify as off limits.

Brady Aiken is also available if anyone wants to take a high-reward flier.
