I took over a pay cbs 6x6 keeper league and right now i'am doing a minor league draft with seven rd's.
I already have the likes of:
Angel Salome C MIL
Josh Vitters 3B CHC
Chris Valaiak SS CIN
Phillippe Aumont SP PHI
Michael Bowden RP BOS
Jamie Garcia SP STL
Jake McGee SP TB
Franklin Morales RP COL

I just drafted Jamie Garcia who I think will be in the back in of the starting rotation for the birds in 10'.
I believe I can drop Salome/Bowden later on and find replacements. Now as for the minor draft going on right now and my second pick coming up after five picks who do you like from the list below:
Lou Marson C CLE
Jason Castro C NYM
Casey Crosby SP DET
Brandon Allen 1B ARI
Bradley Holt SP NYM
Tyler Colvin OF CHC
Danny Valencia 3B MIN
Josh Thole C NYM
Scott Sizemore 2B DET
Wes Hodges 3B CLE
Alex Liddi 3B SEA

Minors are considered 130 A bats/50 innings pitched.
Do you like anyone from list or do you have someone else in mind.
As always leave a link and I will do

I would go with Castro. In this case it doesnt matter what your roster looks like because Castro and Marson are the best available in that list. Castro may even move to 1b and could see some playing time this year. Plus he is a better hitter than Marson.

The reason I asked, would be more about what positions to you need for the future. If you have a guy like Mauer, is there that big of a need to take a catcher vs. some other guy who will help you at a position your shallow at.

Or if you have a guy who may retire or drop off production-wise in the next year or two, you will need someone to step in soon.

It is a good strategy but I would argue none of those prospects are really ready to jump in in a year anyway. With prospects you always go for the one with the higher upside and then all things equal go with positional needs. You can always trade a high prospect in the future anyway so might as well get the best now. Plus when it comes to positional prospects how many actually make it at the position they are listed as. I dont have that answer but I would be curious to know because I always hear about prospects changing positions.

Casey crosby and don't look back. The rest of those guys are borderline nothings.

Lou Marson C CLE - Placeholder until Santana comes up
Jason Castro C HOU - Solid catcher but will not be dominant in any one category
Casey Crosby SP DET - Power lefty with three solid offerings
Brandon Allen 1B ARI - Needs more seasoning. That's why they signed LaRoche
Bradley Holt SP NYM - Injury history and rough AA start
Tyler Colvin OF CHC - Still waiting
Danny Valencia 3B MIN - May make the team out of camp but is at a deep position
Josh Thole C NYM - Think Jason Kendall without the HBP
Scott Sizemore 2B DET - Should start in DET this year. He's my 2nd option out of everyone. Plays a thin position too.
Wes Hodges 3B CLE - Not worth it
Alex Liddi 3B SEA - Solid bat, long ways away

Looking at what you already have, you can probably drop Valaika as he is more a utility IF guy. See if anyone like Todd Frazier (great bat), Adam Moore (solid C prospect that isn't blocked), Jiovanni Mier, Danny Espinosa (both SS's with some promise) or Mike Montgomery are out there. I would personally choose Crosby over Sizemore, but it depends on how many keepers you have each year and how thin 2B is.

Yeah, with Kinsler, I say skip Sizemore. I hear Detroit is actively looking at Adam Kennedy right now. I would still cut Valaika. Here's how I would rank the guys and where they should be by the end of the season (not including Sept. call-ups):

Casey Crosby SP DET - AA
Jason Castro C HOU - AAA
Scott Sizemore 2B DET - MLB
Danny Valencia 3B MIN - MLB
Alex Liddi 3B SEA - AA
Brandon Allen 1B ARI - AAA
Josh Thole C NYM - MLB
Lou Marson C CLE - MLB
Bradley Holt SP NYM - AA
Tyler Colvin OF CHC - AAA
Wes Hodges 3B CLE - AAA
