The Marlins were playing their best ball at the time and the Rockies are 35-35 on the year.

If you're going by past contracts, he has to be even better than he's been this season and stay like that for 4 more years. If you're going by the rising value of the closer and relief pitchers, he's about there.

BJ's taken a lot of heat for stuff that isn't his fault, and often gets left in there for 2 or more innings at a time. That's a lot to expect froma closing pitcher. I think once the atmosphere in the club house improves. The team as a whole well improve. The performance today looked promising.

Someone on ASFN posted this:
Quote:
John Gibbons and Ted Lilly just had a physical confrontation, where Gibbons followed Lilly in to the lockerroom and came out with a bloody lip, black eye and bloodied nose.

It was easy to pin the first one on Hillenbrand, but when Gibbons decides he wants to be Billy Martin Jr., maybe it's time to re-evaluate our management if I'm Toronto.

Wow, Gibbons needs to be fired...

Actually it's pretty sad. I always though we we're better off with Buck. Firing him was almost as stupid as the Jays giving up Michael Young for 3 magic beans.

I now have more info on this. Apparently Gibbons shoved Lilly first while ripping him for "embarassing him". Then Lilly rearanged his face. You could read Lilly's lips on the mound though when Gibbons came out. First he said "I'm not F'n coming out" then after a brief arguement Lilly called him a F'n Captain Kangaroo and F'n joke as a manager.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons wound up with a bloody nose after tangling with Toronto pitcher Ted Lilly near the dugout during Monday night's game against Oakland. It was not known whether any punches were thrown in the tunnel leading to the clubhouse. Lilly was pulled in the third inning, when the Athletics scored seven runs to close to 8-7. Gibbons chewed out the pitcher, who refused to give him the ball. When Lilly left the mound for the locker room, Gibbons followed him. A team trainer and a number of players then ran down the stairs. Cameramen near the dugout saw Gibbons push Lilly first. A television camera later showed Gibbons with a bloody nose. Canadian Press photographer Aaron Harris, one of a handful of photographers to witness the skirmish, said Lilly was waiting for Gibbons in the tunnel. "Gibbons just went at him," Harris said. Harris said they went nose to nose. "It looked like Gibbons grabbed him and they disappeared," Harris said. "Then the whole dugout emptied back there. It was mayhem down in the tunnel."

FANTASY ANALYSIS
Monitor the situation because he's likely to get suspended or punished in some way. He's been very inconsistent but puts together a terrific outing on occasion.

BlueJays owner Ted Rogers announced today that the Jays player budget will be increased again this off-season since the team revenue has gone up almost 30%. This is big news since the Jays are expected to trade Vernon Wells to the Texas Rangers in the off-season as well.

Wellit's official. The Big Hurt is a Blue Jay and I'm on step closer to becoming a Yankees fan. I don't call him JP Retardi for nothing.

Can't find a clip to cut and paste yet but the deal is done.
