The Cavs destroyed the Knicks at home, which wasn't a surprise. LeBron had 19/11/14 in a 29 point win for the (gag) defending champs. Kyrie had 29 points. Love had 23 and 12.

Speaking of losing by 29, the Warriors got blasted at home by the Spurs. Kawhi had 35 points and five steals. He was 15-for-15 from the line as well. Aldridge had 26 and 14. Some guy named Jonathon Simmons scored 20. Durant and Draymond both had double-doubles in the blowout loss. Klay couldn't find his shot. Curry "struggled" from three.

Lillard had 39 points and nine boards in a Portland win. C.J. McCollum added 25 points. Joe Johnson turned back the clock for Utah with 29 points. Gobert had a double-double. Hood scored 26.

Surge? Surge?

Harrison Barnes hit a game tying three with under five seconds left to send the game into overtime in his first game with the Mavs, but the Pacers pulled away in the extra five. Deron Williams had 25. Barea had 22 off the bench. Dallas attempted 48 (!!!) threes, making 18 of them. Myles Turner had 30 points, 16 boards and four blocks for Indy. Paul George had 25/8/6.

The Heat used a balanced scoring attack and a strong third quarter to put away the Magic on the road. Whiteside had 18 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks. All five Magic starters scored in double figures, but they shot under 40 percent as a team.

Brooklyn's rally in the fourth came up just short against the Celtics. The Nets mainly used their bench late... and it almost worked. Some guy named Justin Hamilton had 19 and 10 off the bench with three triples. Bogdanovic scored 21. Isaiah Thomas had 25/6/9 for the Celtics, who shot nearly 54 percent as a team. Third overall pick Jaylen Brown scored nine in his NBA debut.

DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valenciunas combined for 72 points as the Raptors beat the Pistons north of the border. DeRozan's line was mostly empty, but who cares... 40 points on 27 shot attempts (with no made threes, of course) is pretty good. Andre Drummond was held to just six rebounds as he battled foul trouble the whole game.

Anthony Davis went bonkers for the Pelicans, but his effort was not enough. He finished with a 50/16/5/7/4 line on 34 field goal attempts while making almost all of his free throws. He scored almost half of New Orleans' points for the game. Surge's boy Tim Frazier (I'm not sure if you like him or not... he's a Penn State NBA player, and those are extremely rare) had 15 points and 11 dimes, but he fouled out. The Nuggets were +24 on the glass, which is crazy. Nurkic had 23 and nine on just 13 shots.

MKG had 23 and 14 after an awful preseason in a Hornets road win over the Bucks. Roy Hibbert (yes, that Roy Hibbert) had 15 points, nine boards and five blocks in a start for Cody Zeller, who was on a minutes limit. Giannis had 31/9/5. There were only 18 combined turnovers in this one. Heck, that's a game for most teams.

Surge, the parade is off. The Sixers were tied with the Thunder with under a minute left, but they couldn't finish it off. Westbrook was an assist shy of a triple-double with a 32/12/9 line with only two turnovers. Kanter had a double-double off the bench. Joel Embiid made his long awaited NBA debut and scored an inefficient 20 points in only 22 minutes (16 shot attempts).

The Grizzlies beat the Timberwolves by four at home. Conley had 24 points and four threes. Z-Bo had 19/11 off the bench. Wade Baldwin had 7/5/6/3/3 in only 24 minutes. Wiggins had 25 for the Wolves, which was a game high. KAT had 21 but only four boards. Kris Dunn scored eight in his debut in only 15 minutes.

Boogie and Rudy combined for 46 as the Kings cruised on the road against Phoenix. Bender was impressive for the Suns... but it was deep into garbage time before he even got playing time. Chriss had seven points and four turnovers.

Jordan Clarkson took over in the second half as the Lakers beat the Rockets in what may have been the surprise of the night. Russell had 20, and Randle had 18 for the Lakers. Harden had 34/8/17 for the Rockets... but also seven turnovers (I set the over/under at 8.5 before the game.). Some guy in the crowd who hates Harden must have been near a mic. That was so annoying.

Wizards/Hawks, Celtics/Bulls, Clippers/Blazers and Spurs/Kings are the games tonight.

Don't expect this every night. I watched a decent amount of NBA last night, and that almost never happens. Where's Surge again?
