I'm going with the biased choice and think Trumbo is going to turn some heads tonight. He may not win, but being the least known guy in the field, I doubt many are giving him a shot. But the dude has some serious raw power.

It really is too bad Stanton had to drop out. He would have been a fun one to watch as well.

Also, does anyone else think it is pretty selfish of Kemp to be competing?

I get that he has been taking BP, but being that his team has completely tanked since he went on the DL he should be taking ever step necessary to come back healthy as soon as possible.

Why do the derby and risk aggravating your injury? If you're not healthy enough to play for your team, I don't think you should be doing individual things like the HR Derby.

I like Carlos Gonzalez--for hometown reasons I guess.

I also like Trumbo just because I have him on one of my fantasy teams.

And yes, I agree with you about Kemp.

A little late coming in to this thread but I had my predictions on face back. Icorrectly predicted CA no last year, this year I'm going with Joey Bats and liked Car-Go as a dark horse pick. Gotta love the on Trumbo hit that ended up going down the slide though. I also agree Kemp has no business there. KC should have had an entry.

Prince hit some monster shots, but seemed like he was trying too hard. If he would have taken his swing down a notch he probably would have hit more. Trumbo really impressed me, I'd love to see him and Bats in the final.

Too bad he didn't make the finals, but it was nice to see Trumbo do well and a little national spotlight. People have been doubting him since before he even got called up and has done nothing but prove them wrong.

He just happens to play on the west coast where no one gets any love.

Fielder hit some blasts though.

I had no idea Trumbo had that kind of power. He's still young, give him another couple of seasons and we could have the next Pujols.

The Home Run Derby lasts longer than any major sporting event I can think of. The dunk contest doesn't go on for 4 hours. They've got to speed this thing up.

Do you really need 8 competitors?

Do they need three separate rounds?

Do they need David Ortiz going up every 3 f***ing outs to wipe a dude's face and give him f***ing gatorade? Are you f***ing serious? What the hell is this crap?

And Chris Berman needs to stop hosting it. That would instantly make it at least bearable to watch with the sound on.

I could have gone without seeing Kruk stuffing himself with ribs every 5 minutes. I thought he was going to attack Adam Jones like a giant bear when he went up there and starting helping himself. When Beltran went on a mini tear no one commented on it because they were all too busy talking about the ribs.

Not that Cutch did anything but they interviewed Josh Hamilton during his entire AB on a split screen. They barely even talked about Cutch until he got to the money ball. It was really annoying and pretty disrespectful in my opinion. I hate ESPN

The first two don't really bother me. Although, I think it should be a rule that the host city automatically gets a player in the HR derby.

You nailed it on Ortiz. He acts like he's the main event and the reason people are there, even when he's not competing.

You also nailed it on Berman. I'm glad to see I'm not the only person that detests that man. I groan every time I see him on the air.

The ribs didn't really bother me, but the talking during certain players at-bats was disrespectful in my opinion. Nothing said during those times was any more important or relevant than what was happening at the plate.

I agree with you on this for sure. When ever the camera panned by him during game etc. all they could say was how he is one of the brightest young stars in the game, but during his round in HR Derby, the completely ignored him.

Adam Jones made me laugh though when he was just sort of standing there waiting until they were done because he wanted a rib, but they kept talking so he just started eating.
