Two Start Pitchers :: Week 26 by Scott Mickels Published: September 16, 2008, 8:21 pm
Well folks, this is it... the last 2-Start Pitchers of the year! It's been a fun season and an absolute pleasure bringing you this article each week. I hope you've enjoyed it. You fantasy footballers out here need to make sure and check out my Mick's Picks column starting next week. But enough shameless plugs... As for Week 26, I have three Injury Watch's to talk about. The first, and biggest name, comes to us from Anaheim and Angels starter John Lackey. Lackey is injured somehow but the Angels aren't releasing much info on the situation. His most recent start was pushed back, so the Angels are either being very cautious with him or his injury could be worse than expected, or both. He's normally a no-brainer in all leagues when healthy, but with his health and the nature of the injury up in the air, he belongs on your bench for Week 26. You don't want to risk getting a big, fat goose egg at this point in the season. Moving over to the National League, we head to the Mile High city where the Rockies Ubaldo Jimenez has been suffering from cramping in both of his legs. He has been thoroughly stretched out and hydrated to help him from cramping up again. He looks to be ready to go for Week 26, but is probably best left for NL-only leagues and deeper mixed leagues as a low-end option. Finally, our last Injury Watch comes to us courtesy of Houston where Astros pitcher Brandon Backe has been experiencing soreness in his arm. He's scheduled to pitch tomorrow (9/17) against the Marlins at Florida. Even if he comes out of the start with flying colors, Backe is far too inconsistent for anyone to rely on, even in the deepest of NL-only leagues.
If you have any questions you'd like answered, don't hesitate to email me with them at scottmickels@fantasyplaymakers.com. I'm more than happy to help you out and get your team's rotation pointed in the right direction. Now, without further ado, on to the two-start pitchers! NOTE: These starts are not set in stone. They can change for any variety of reasons; managerial moves, injuries, rain-outs, etc. Please keep in mind they are probable.
