Two Start Pitchers :: Week 23 by Scott Mickels Published: September 6, 2010, 6:36 pm
We're on to Week 23 and, more importantly, now into September. This means two things: We've only got a month left of the Major League baseball regular season and college football is here! OK, OK, the latter is more of a personal thing. Unfortunately, this week the mailbag is empty, but I do have one Injury Watch to discuss.
For this, we head down to the Lone Star state where Rangers starting pitcher Cliff Lee is dealing with back issues. According to Rangers Assistant GM, Thad Levine, these back issues are something that Lee has been dealing with for almost a month. He will throw a bullpen session on Saturday which will determine his status next week. Lee owners should feel fortunate to hear that as you'll be given a heads up on whether you should start Lee for Week 23 before the weekend is up. Needless to say, keep an eye on his status over the weekend before putting him in your lineup. It really is as simple as this… if Lee can get through his bullpen session without any setbacks or pain in his back, he'll go as scheduled on Tuesday at Toronto. If not, he'll miss his next start and obviously lose his two-start status. Provided Lee can go next week, however, consider him a low-end Advisable Option. He's had an awful month of August, but of course still has the talent and offense behind him to easily rebound in his next start.
Now, on to what we all came here for, the Two-Start Pitchers!
Of course, if you have any pitching questions, or now any fantasy football questions, don't hesitate to email me with them at scottmickels@fantasyplaymakers.com.
NOTE: These starts are not set in stone. They can change for any variety of reasons; managerial moves, injuries, rain-outs, etc. Please keep in mind they are probable.
