Two Start Pitchers :: Week 13 by Scott Mickels Published: June 27, 2009, 9:41 pm
Look no further than the National League this week, as the NL is loaded with two-start options. At the same time, look no further than the American League for our only Injury Watch of the week. It comes to us courtesy of our friends up north in Toronto, where Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay is coming fresh off the DL. The Arvada, Colorado native is returning from a mild groin strain that sidelined him back on June 12th. After a half dozen throwing sessions Halladay is geared up to start Monday at home against the Rays. Despite the slight possibility of the groin flaring up again, get Halladay in your lineup. And as always, good luck this week!
Before we get to the Two-Start Pitchers, I do have one email from a reader...
Rick in Boise, ID writes: Scott, who would you rather have in a points league, Zach Duke or Wandy Rodriguez? Thanks for the email, Rick! At this point in time, I'd give the edge to Duke. Rodriguez will get you more strikeouts, provided your league gives points for those, and neither will do much in the way of wins playing for the teams they do. With that said, Duke has just been a bit more consistent. Don't get me wrong, when he's on, Rodriguez can be as nasty as anyone in the league, and at one point this season was virtually a must-start in all leagues. However, he's given up at least five earned runs in three of his last five starts and has been dealing out free passes on a more regular basis. A few bad outings by Duke and a few good outings by Rodriguez could change all of that, but right now I'm giving the slight nod to Duke. Good luck, Rick and thanks again!
Of course, like Rick, if you have any pitching questions you'd like answered, don't hesitate to email me with them at scottmickels@fantasyplaymakers.com. I'm more than happy to help you out and get your team's rotation pointed in the right direction.
NOTE: These starts are not set in stone. They can change for any variety of reasons; managerial moves, injuries, rain-outs, etc. Please keep in mind they are probable.
