Mick's Picks :: Week 10 by Scott Mickels Published: November 10, 2010, 6:45 pm
Make sure to check here every week! Each week, I'll suggest three players that are likely on your league's waiver wire that could provide a spark to your fantasy team. Of course, if you have any questions you'd like me to answer, please send them to me at scottmickels@fantasyplaymakers.com. Now, for this week's Mick's Picks... Mick's Picks - Week 10
Joel Dreessen, TE, HOU (@ JAC) FPM Spin: Starting in place of Owen Daniels, Dreessen caught a team-high 5 balls for 67 yards last week against the Chargers. Dreessen has shown he is a very capable tight end when given the opportunity as he's averaging 14.7 yards a catch. Daniels is questionable coming into Week 10, so it's possible Dreessen could get the start again this week. That remains to be seen however, so check your favorite pre-game show to find out Daniels' status before rolling with Dreessen. If Daniels can't go, Dreessen makes a solid bye-week filler in most leagues and a low-end #1 in deeper leagues this week as the Texans are on the road to face the Jaguars' 28th-ranked pass defense.
Season Stats - 13 receptions, 191 yards, 2 TD

Mike Goodson, RB, CAR (@ TB)
FPM Spin: Every week I tend to put a deep sleeper on my Mick's Picks and Goodson is our lucky winner this week. The Panthers' DeAngelo Williams and Jonathon Stewart are both nursing injuries which mean Goodson could get the start this week at Tampa Bay. Williams will be a game-time decision and I'm willing to bet Stewart won't go. Either way, Goodson is bound to get an increased role in the Panthers' offense this week. He looked good last week gaining 29 yards on 9 carries. He's also been a valuable receiver out of the backfield, so it's not as if he'd be getting thrown to the wolves here. Given his involvement in the Panthers' offense throughout the season, even in the smallest capacity, he should have a decent amount of success, especially against the Buccaneers' 30th-ranked rush defense. Consider Goodson a decent flex play in most standard leagues and perhaps a very low-end #2 in deeper leagues.
Season Stats - 16 carries, 50 yards, 0 TD

Vincent Jackson, WR, SD (BYE) FPM Spin: This is more of a reminder than anything else. The Chargers are on a bye this week, sure, but Jackson is due back in two weeks; November 28th to be precise, at Indianapolis. He practiced last week with the team for the first time since his suspension and according to head coach Norv Turner he looked very good. He is playing for a new contract and only has 6 weeks to make his case. That means he could make a very valuable player during the final weeks of the season when most fantasy owners are trying to make a push to get into their league's playoffs. Not only that, but the Chargers have been decimated at receiver because of injuries, so Jackson's return couldn't come at a better time. With that in mind, Jackson is definitely worth stashing if you have the room or are thin at receiver. With the Chargers on a bye, now is the time to pounce on Jackson if he's still available.
Season Stats - 0 receptions, 0 yards, 0 TD HONORABLE MENTIONSJavarris James, RB, IND: With Joseph Addai and Mike Hart out with injuries, and Donald Brown playing at less than 100%, James could eventually find himself getting an expanded role in the Colts offense. Plus, the Colts' coaching staff seems to like what he brings to the table.
Randy McMichael, TE, SD: He only caught two passes in place of the injured Antonio Gates, but both went for touchdowns. The Chargers are on a bye this week, but McMichael showed he's still a serviceable tight end when called upon. He's worth stashing in the event Gates misses any more time with injuries.
Keiland Williams, RB, WAS: Ryan Torain is questionable going into Week 10 and Clinton Portis is likely another week out, so Williams could be in line to get more carries this week against the Eagles.
