Make sure to check here every week! Each week I'll help you make those critical waiver wire decisions that can make or break your team. Also, check out the FPM Weekly podcast , to not only hear any changes to my Mick's Picks, but you can hear podcast co-host Matt Ridley, list of his "Ridley's Releases" as well.
Mick's Picks - Week 14
Tashard Choice, RB, DAL (@ PIT) FPM Spin: When Felix Jones went down for the season, Choice became the #2 running back in Dallas. This past Thursday, Choice was once again thrust into a more active role with Marion Barber leaving the game with a dislocated toe. Choice ended up finishing the game with 57 yards on 11 carries; a respectable 5.2 average per rush. Depending on how severe Barber's injury is, Choice could get some valuable playing time. With the chance of him getting an increased workload, he makes an intriguing pick-up in all leagues. He makes a good flex option going forward in most leagues and should definitely be snagged by all of you Barber owners for insurance as the fantasy football playoffs near.
Stats - 30 carries, 147 yards, 0 TD
Domenik Hixon, WR, NYG (vs. PHI)
FPM Spin: By now, most of you know all about Plaxico Burress foolishly bringing a gun into a New York night club, only for it to go off in his pocket and shoot him in the leg. Once it was established that his health was fine, the Giants are starting to look and move forward. Hixon has done an admirable job filling in for Burress, as he's had his best two games receptions-wise the last two weeks as he has 11 catches for 128 yards combined. He was even asked to run the ball on a reverse in Week 12, so it's becoming clear the Giants coaching staff, as well as Eli Manning, has a lot of confidence in this guy. As the regular season enters its last month, Hixon should see his numbers increase and become more consistent. If you're a Burress owner or in a bind at receiver, grab Hixon now, as he won't be on the waiver wire for long. He should make a solid #3 and decent #2 for the rest of the season. Stats - 26 receptions, 373 yards, 1 TD

Matt Schaub, QB, HOU (@ GB) FPM Spin: It seems Schaub is ready to be back in Week 14. He was apparently good to go for Week 13, but the Texans chose to keep him out an extra week to ease him back. Schaub does face some tough match-ups coming up against the Packers and Titans, but he was playing like a Pro-Bowler before his injury, so he could put up good numbers, even against tough defenses. He'll probably be a bit rusty to start the game, but he'll inevitably regain his rapport with the likes of Andre Johnson, Kevin Walter and Owen Daniels. Barring any setbacks, Schaub makes a quality backup in any league for the remainder of the season as you try to make that playoff push.
Stats - 1,762 yards, 10 TD, 8 INT
HONORABLE MENTIONSMark Clayton, WR, BAL – Was able to find the end zone for the second straight week.
Ken Dorsey, QB, CLE – The new starting quarterback in Cleveland; only pick up if desperate.
Shaun Hill, QB, SF – Has a passing touchdown in his last five straight games.
