Mick's Picks :: Week 10
by Scott Mickels

Make sure to check here every week! Each week I'll help you make those critical waiver wire decisions that can make or break your team. Also, check out the FPM Weekly podcast , to not only hear any changes to my Mick's Picks, but you can hear podcast co-host Matt Ridley, list of his "Ridley's Releases" as well.

Mick's Picks - Week 10

Jamaal Charles, RB, KC (@ SD)

FPM Spin: With Kolby Smith done for the season with a knee injury and Larry Johnson being suspended for Week 10, Charles becomes the man in Kansas City for at least the next week. He played great in place of Smith last week rushing for 106 yards on 18 carries. He comes into Week 10 with a good match-up against a San Diego defense that gives up over 100 yards rushing a game. Charles is a speedster and has good hands out of the backfield, and with this favorable match-up, he makes an intriguing play for Week 10. Consider him a low-end #2 or good flex option in most leagues.

Stats - 47 carries, 266 yards, 0 TD

Brady Quinn, QB, CLE (vs. DEN)

FPM Spin: Browns head coach Romeo Crennel officially made the move to the first round pick out of Notre Dame. This will be Quinn's first ever NFL start, but on the plus side it does come against the Broncos 27th ranked pass defense. Despite the favorable match-up, Quinn will no doubt be a risky start this week, but now is the time to snag him if you're thin at quarterback or happen to be a Derek Anderson owner. If he does in fact play well, you might not be able to get him next week, unless of course you're high on your league's waiver order. Quinn does have a solid core of offensive weapons to throw to, so around 200 yards with a score or two is very realistic. Consider Quinn a low-end #2 going into Week 10.

Stats - No Stats

Ryan Torain, RB, DEN (vs. CLE)

FPM Spin: The Broncos planned on easing Torain back into the offense, but injuries have decimated the Broncos running backs. Michael Pittman and Andre Hall are both done for the season and it appears Selvin Young will be a game-time decision, leaving Torain as the Broncos only healthy running back. Like Quinn against the Broncos poor pass defense, Torain gets a very favorable match-up against the Browns 28th ranked rush defense. He'll likely see the bulk of the carries, but limit your expectations as it might take some time for him to get used to NFL game speed. 15-20 carries for around 60-80 yards and perhaps a score is a very realistic expectation. He's not quite a #2 just yet, but he does make a solid flex option in all leagues.

Stats - 3 carries, 1 yard, 0 TD

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Byron Leftwich, QB, PIT -- possibly starting for Ben Roethlisberger.

Ray Rice, RB, BAL -- likely starting again for Willis McGahee.

Sage Rosenfels, QB, HOU -- starting for the injured Matt Schaub for at least two weeks.
