Mick's Picks :: Week 16

Make sure to check here every week! Find out who the hot players are to pick up and the slumping players you should bench. Each week I'll help you make those critical waiver wire decisions that can make or break your team.

Mick's Picks - Week 16

Pick Up

Kevin Boss, TE, NYG (@BUF)

FPM Spin: With Jeremy Shockey out for the season, Kevin Boss steps in as the Giants' starting tight. Boss caught two passes for 31 yards and a touchdown after coming in for Shockey in the third quarter of last week's game. All leagues have either started or will start their playoffs this week, so this move isn't for all of you. Boss is a desperation play, so only use him in deeper leagues if you're in a bind at tight end.

Stats - 5 receptions, 68 yards, 1 TD

David Patten, WR, NO (vs. PHI)

FPM Spin: Patten has remerged as one of Drew Brees' top targets. He's caught 13 balls for 193 yards and two touchdowns in his last two games. With Marques Colston getting double-teamed by defenses, Patten has been able to take advantage of the single coverage. Consider him a decent #3 receiver in all leagues.

Stats - 44 receptions, 698 yards, 3 TD

Dominic Rhodes, RB, OAK (@ JAX)

FPM Spin: With Justin Fargas shut down for the season and LaMont Jordan publicly asking to be traded, Rhodes should see an opportunity as the Raiders' starting running back. Rhodes has experience as a starter in the past in Indianapolis and should perform well the last two weeks of the season. Like Boss, he's definitely a desperation play, but could be worth a look for those of you in deeper leagues.

Stats - 19 carries, 65 yards

Bench

Justin Fargas, RB, OAK (@ JAX)

FPM Spin: One of the most pleasant surprises of the fantasy football year, Fargas topped 1,000 yards rushing for the first time in his career. Unfortunately, he has been shut down for the season with a sprained MCL in his right knee. He should be dropped in all but deep keeper leagues.

Stats - 222 carries, 1,009 yards, 4 TD

Todd Heap, TE, BAL (@ SEA)

FPM Spin: If you listen to the podcasts, you know I’m not a big fan of the "Heap o' crap". Heap will once again be questionable for Week 16's game against Seattle. In the unlikely event that Heap is able to play, how effective will he really be? On top of not being 100%, the Ravens' offense is abysmal. Heap should be dropped in all but deep keeper leagues.

Stats - 23 receptions, 239 yards, 1 TD

Jeremy Shockey, TE, NYG (vs. PHI)

FPM Spin: Shockey left last Sunday's game against the Redskins in the third quarter with a broken left leg. He was in obvious pain as he was carted off of the field. Needless to say, he will miss the last two games of the season. He should be dropped in all but deep keeper leagues. Seeing a pattern here?

Stats - 57 receptions, 619 yards, 3 TD
